Урок на тему "Туризм, глянцевые открытки", 10 класс
КОНСПЕКТ УРОКА «ТУРИЗМ. ГЛЯНЦЕВЫЕ ОКРЫТКИ»
10-й класс.
Цели урока:
Обучающая: Активизировать знание лексического материала на тему «Путешествия» в устной и письменной речи;
Развивающая: Формировать навыки аудирования, монологической и диалогической речи; развивать коммуникативные способности, фонематический слух, память.
Воспитательная: Воспитывать интерес к культуре и традициям других стран.
Оборудование:
Медиапроектор, ноутбук, доска; карточки для индивидуальной и парной работы.
ХОД УРОКА:
I. Greeting
- Good morning, dear guests.
- Good morning, students. Are you fine today?
Ss.: Yes, we are.
- Glad to hear it. So, let’s start.
As for me, I fancy travelling. It can be very useful, it helps us to know more about cultures and traditions of other countries. It develops our outlook. Do you like travelling?
Ss.: Yes, we do.
- So, today we’re going to talk about travelling. (1st slide of PowerPoint presentation)
• You will develop your skills and habits of prepared and unprepared speech;
• You will learn to express your opinion;
• You will enrich your vocabulary;
• You will learn to understand and respect the traditions and culture of other countries.

Students choose a question card from a set and answer the question

(Ask students to explain the meanings of these expressions)
Do exercise from the book: choose the correct words and translate the sentences.
1. We prefer cooking our meals, so we usually stay in a self-catering apartment/hotel on holidays.
2. We didn’t enjoy our last trip to our usual ski resort/village in the Alps. There wasn’t any snow!
3. The guided tour/trip of the cathedral took two hours, but it was really interesting.
4. Our package holiday/break included the flights, the accommodation, the excursions and all our meals.
5. Our trip to Amsterdam was a bargain because we went on a charter flight/plane.
6. We went to the beach or a long Saturday/weekend last month. We stayed from Friday to Monday.
7. We went on a day travel/trip to the zoo last Sunday.
8. My parents are on a city break/holiday in Prague.

IV. Pair work
Student A: You are a tourist in Manhattan. New York City. You are interested taking a ferry cruise around the city. Student B works for the Circle Line Cruise Company. Call and ask for the following information. Use the prompts to make questions.
Student B: You are a tourist in Manhattan.
You are interested in taking a bus tour of the city. Student A works to the Double Decker Bus Tour Company. Call and ask for the following information. Use the prompts to make questions.

V. Listening
Promotional video “What’s On in London”
Unfamiliar words: Tourist hotspots – places where a lot of activity and entertainment.
Retailers – a person or business that sells goods to a public.
Loop – a strip of film or tape on which the pictures and sound are repeated continuously.
Haul flight – the distance covered in a particular journey.
Pre-listening activity

What’s on in London is a program dedicated to everything that is LONDON.
It’s aimed primarily at the tourist market, but also strongly appeals to locals as well.
Each episode takes a journey through a different part of London:
 The finest restaurants to eat at.
 Theatres with top West End shows.
 Entertainment, including the coolest bars and clubs.
 Culture and Attractions, which shows the rich range of galleries, museums and tourist hotspots.
 Shopping, which walks you through the most exclusive boutiques, independent retailers and famous department stores.

The program is currently been shown on three different platforms: the first being British Airways long haul flights.
In 76 of London’s Top Hotels. The program has its own dedicated channel which runs the program on a 24 hour continuous loop.
And finally, about 1000 London Black Taxis, which is also looped.

Altogether “What’s On in London” reaches approximately 5 million potential viewers per month

VI. Speaking
You were to prepare booklets about any country you would like to present us.
There should be such information in your booklets: kind of a trip; name of the country; places to visit; where to stay; local bars, clubs and entertainment; how to get there; prices.
